Jonnie Common
Common is a Glasgow-based sonic boom of majestic devilry forged in the pottery kiln fires of Highland Perthshire. He’s an affiliate of Inspector Tapehead, a former member of Down the Tiny Steps, and one of Scotland’s finest exports. Down The Tiny Steps were a staple on the Glasgow live scene but since dissolving from his former identity and simply going under his own name, Jonnie has earnt the respect of and collaborated with some of Scotland and Manchester’s finest, Panda Su and Eagleowl to name a few.
Since signing to Manchester’s Red Deer Club, the release of Master of None in August 2011 sent Jonnie’s popularity sky high, securing him a length of up-and-coming gigs and festivals including a tour of Scotland with The Travelling Band and a live session with BBC’s Marc Riley. Well-produced records more often than not mask an average vocal, but not in this case. The producer and remixer makes lo-fi electro-folk beats to assist his rich vocal tone resulting in a broad Glasgow, skewed-pop glow.
